Octavella
Upper octave fuzz with internal feedback loop for self-oscillating metallic harmonics.
LastGasp Art Laboratories was founded by Hirofumi Uchino in Tokyo in 1992, with roots in the experimental noise scene. After relocating to Sydney, Australia in 2005, Hiro rebuilt the entire production line from scratch, creating wildly unconventional effects championed by noise and experimental artists worldwide.
The Octavella is an upper octave feedback fuzz that produces rich harmonic content often described as metallic. The pedal can feed the upper octave sound back into itself, creating self-oscillating textures that range from subtle ring to wild feedback whistle.
Four controls provide precise sound shaping: Level sets output, Tone adjusts brightness, Gain controls fuzz intensity, and F.Back (feedback) determines how much of the octave signal recirculates through the circuit. Care is needed with the Gain and Feedback knobs at high settings, as the pedal will readily enter self-oscillation territory. This is one of the best full-fat textured octave fuzzes available.
