The Schaffer Replica Storm
Three-knob evolution of Schaffer Replica featuring independent optical limiter control and flatter EQ response for versatile 31dB boost and harmonic clipping capabilities.
The SoloDallas Schaffer Replica Storm represents next evolution of Schaffer Replica design, featuring 100% analog signal path nearly identical to Classic version but with crucial third control and slightly flatter EQ response that's more accurate to original Schaffer-Vega Diversity System sound. Like Classic, Storm reverse-engineers five interactive circuits from vintage wireless units - optical limiter, EQ expander, harmonic clipping circuit, boost, and line buffer - but packages them with enhanced control flexibility and operates on standard 9-12V DC power.
Storm features three main control knobs that provide unprecedented tonal shaping: Power knob controls TX10 transmitter circuit gain; Storm knob controls EX63 receiver gain, capable of delivering up to 31dB of clean boost for pushing amplifiers into natural saturation; and most significantly, Snap knob controls Ken Schaffer's signature opto-isolator limiter circuit. This Snap control is Storm's secret weapon - turning it up makes your guitar respond quicker with enhanced "bloom" and dynamic sensitivity, while turning it down creates looser feel with beneficial internal clipping that interacts musically with other controls.
Compared to Classic's strong midrange character and 12V power supply headroom, Storm's slightly flatter EQ response and 9-12V operation make it more versatile across different musical styles and guitar/amp combinations. Optical limiting circuit responds naturally to playing dynamics, compression characteristics adapt to your touch, and harmonic clipping adds warmth and sustain without harsh artifacts. Construction quality is uncompromising with commercial-grade PCB, heavy-duty true bypass footswitch (blue LED when engaged), Neutrik jacks, and robust enclosure. Made in USA, Storm delivers same legendary tone enhancement used by guitarists like Angus Young, David Gilmour, and Eddie Van Halen with control flexibility demanded by modern players.
