Colordriver 18V
Colorsound Power Boost recreation with BC184 transistors. Runs on 9V, internally boosted to 18V for massive headroom.
The Tru-Fi Colordriver 18V is a handmade recreation of the legendary Colorsound Power Booster, the 18-volt monster used by Jeff Beck and David Gilmour. This version runs on 9V input but internally boosts to 18V, delivering the headroom and transparency of the original with modern power convenience.
The circuit uses BC184 transistors (different from the 9V version's BC109s), giving slightly different tonal character with more headroom and transparency. A critical addition is the side-mounted master volume control, addressing the original's famously massive output that made it hard to use for many guitarists. The compact enclosure (slightly larger than a Boss pedal) with true bypass and LED makes it pedalboard-friendly.
Controls include Gain, Treble, Bass, and the side master volume. Built in the USA, the pedal spans clean boost through aggressive overdrive depending on settings. The internal 18V operation provides the explosive dynamics and clarity that made the original Power Boost a studio standard, now tamed with practical output control. Available in multiple colors.
